Claire is able to deliver a tailored programme of straightness training and exercises to establish relaxation in the horse's mind and body, leading to a calm thinking, responsive and well balanced horse. Claire's approach encourages the horse to seek the right answers to the questions asked of it by the handler/rider, using a calm and patient approach that enables the horse to learn what is expected of them.

Beginning a horse’s education from the ground is very important. Horses, like humans, have different ways of learning. Groundwork helps to establish what the horse needs to enable it to learn effectively and what drives them, and allows them to express themselves while identifying what makes them tick. It also allows Claire to help the horse find their balance and, in doing so, helps them become aware of their bodies. Claire will set up exercises to encourage the horse to think for themselves, allowing them to find their own balance while carrying out specific exercises. This foundation is all working towards what is expected from them under saddle. Helping the horse to understand cues from the ground only assists in the transition to ridden work.

Once fundamental groundwork is in place, the world is your oyster. A calm, responsive horse to handle on the ground allows owners to achieve anything they want to from a calm hacking horse: a driving pony, a general all-rounder, or a competition horse competing at any discipline you wish.
